Tournament Pathway
From classroom to rated play - at the right pace.
DOM Chess Academy coaches the competitive cycle: prepare, play, analyze, improve. We help families understand USCF events without overselling trophies or scholarships.
Prep cycle
Before an event: opening reminders, tactical warm-ups, time-control practice, and a simple game plan suited to the student's level.
Event day
Optional tournament-day coaching ($75/event): check-in support, between-round calm, and parent guidance on logistics.
Post-game analysis
We review key games with the student, fix one or two habits, and set the next practice focus - the loop that builds real progress.

- Fall - local scholastic / club Swiss
- Winter - USCF-rated weekend event
- Spring - school-team or regional qualifier

FAQ
What does "USCF rated" mean?+
The United States Chess Federation publishes official ratings from rated events. Playing rated games is how a student's competitive rating develops over time.
Do you guarantee ratings or scholarships?+
Competitive chess ratings and tournament records can strengthen future school applications and scholarship eligibility. We prepare students for rated play; awards and scholarships are decided by schools and organizers — not guaranteed by DOM.
Who is Tournament Track for?+
Typically ages 12-17 who already know the rules well and want a structured path into scholastic / rated events. Younger competitive students may join earlier after placement.
Can Dom Tech STEM students join Dom Chess tournaments?+
Yes. Dom Tech is STEM with a short cognitive warm-up - not a chess class. Families who want competitive chess enroll separately in Dom Chess (15% Dom Tech student discount available).
