Privacy Policy

We collect three categories of information:

• Information you provide directly — when you enroll a student, contact us, or sign up: parent/guardian name, email, phone, student first name, student age, chess experience level, and program preferences.
• Information collected automatically (Website only) — on the website we use first-party cookies and Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic (device type, OS version, anonymized usage events).
• Mobile App data (stays on your device) — the DOM Chess Academy app stores your chess training progress (practice scores, accuracy, streaks, and app preferences such as haptics and the daily-reminder setting) locally on your device. This information is never uploaded to us, is not linked to an account, and is not sold or shared. The app contains no advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.

• To process enrollment applications and respond to inquiries.
• To deliver classes, coaching, and schedule communications.
• To improve the website (aggregate analytics). The mobile app uses no analytics.
• To send transactional emails (enrollment confirmations, scheduling).
• To send occasional marketing emails about programs only with consent — you can unsubscribe from any email at any time.
• To comply with legal obligations.

DOM Chess Academy serves children ages 5–17. We never knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Enrollment is always initiated by a parent or guardian. The information we collect about a student is limited to first name, age, chess experience, and program — the minimum necessary to place the child in the correct class.

We do not display third-party advertising in the App, and we do not sell or share children's data with advertising networks. Parents may review, modify, or delete their child's information at any time by emailing info@domchessacademy.com.

We do not sell your information. We share data only with service providers we use to operate the academy, under contracts that require them to protect your data:

• Google Firebase — secure storage of enrollment applications and authentication (Google LLC).
• EmailJS — delivery of transactional emails (EmailJS, Inc.).
• Google Analytics — anonymized website traffic measurement.
• Expo / EAS — App build, distribution, and over-the-air updates.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the safety of our students or staff, or in connection with a corporate transaction (with notice).

Notifications are optional. If you turn on the Daily Training Reminder in the app's Settings, the app schedules a single local reminder on your device. You can turn it off at any time. We send no remote push notifications and no marketing notifications.

Live Activities & Dynamic Island. When supported, the app shows your current training progress, memorization timers, practice streak, and session completion in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen. These display only non-sensitive training values and contain no personal data.

What the app does NOT do. The app does not access your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, or calendars, and uses no precise or background location. We never track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use the AppTrackingTransparency identifier (IDFA).

We retain enrollment information for as long as the student is active in our programs, plus up to 3 years thereafter for academic and accounting records. You may request earlier deletion by writing to info@domchessacademy.com.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email info@domchessacademy.com. We will respond within 30 days.

We use industry-standard safeguards (TLS in transit, encrypted storage at rest, access controls) to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your data safe.

DOM Chess Academy is based in Massachusetts, USA. If you use the App or Website from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the US.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page and, where appropriate, by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
